D-01 - Little Library Fairy

Our chapter is only six years old, but we have experienced great success by creating community and establishing community projects. We have also recruited our graduate students as part of our membership. In expanding literacy at our STEM school, we determined to share books with our fellow students. Last year, we obtained the Sigma Tau Delta Project Grant and built our campus’ Little Library. This year, we wanted to further access to books; learning about the UK project called “Book Fairies,” we determined to create our own version of the project. We started recently, dispensing books at the Southwest Region Conference for Sigma Tau Delta. The project allows us to recycle books that we have read and pass them on to other interested readers. We also created a QR tracking system so that readers can scan the stickers and interact with the program and system.
